Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Looking as some new Bias tyres for the Tuff Stuff.
Keen on 35X10.5/ 15 Boggers or Q78 /15s
Run on 35 Radial Claws for road but looking for more aggression offroad.
Had Simexs / Creepys / Swampers before.
Would like to try some Boggers this time but i still have to drive on the blacktop to my offroad destinations, and i am wondering how they behave.

Any opinons would be great.

I am a big fan of Q78's. I think you will find them more versatile than boggers, also they are taller and far better on the road.

IMHO the competitive size for a Q78 in a bogger is a 37 12.5- the 37's mount up short at 35.4" - acutally shorter than a q78

I ran Q78's on my Gwagen for 5 years and they are going on my zuk now.

I would get another set tomorrow to run in all conditions on any car they would fit on.

Boggers were never designed for the type of driving we do in victoria. They were intended as a DOT legal mud race tyre only. Mud racing in the US is dragging only and there is no (minimal) requirement for lateral grip- they are only intended to respond to throttle.

In a ute where the back slipping off cambers wan't an issue, they might be worth a run, but in a car with expensive panelwork I would go for a swamper.

I knwo a member of the board ran 36" swampers on the front and 37" boggers on the back on a GQ and reckoned it ruled - I like that idea but only if the back slipping around off throttle wasn't a consideration.

The boggers would be the worst on road. There will be so many opinions
on witch is best in hard going. Having said that, I'd probly choose Simex
for best all round......35 11,5 15 @ 35.7
Just remember that the 35 10.5 Bogger is 34.8 and the Q78 15 will measure 35.6
When U run out of diff clearance that super aggressive Bogger will be useless.......

Some years ago I had my q78's up against some 35 10.5 'pedes and the 78's were taller by about .75"

I agree with the size being a problem, I would only run a 35 10.5 bogger on a zuk, and some of us think that they might still be a bit small. Cool, but small.


I would look at a 37 bogger on a car as big as a GU.

Yep. The 35 11.5 15 ET is oversized and a very good roadable mud-
chucker. Also, because it's a "two lug" tyre it tends to dig and clean
better than the 36 'three lug". The sizing is very close to the Q78 15.

Yeah, cool - that's a good usable size for sure.

Personally, I don' t like what I have seen of simex's for my kind of driving but they do have their place.

i used to run swampers front and boggers back of my old GQ and loved that set up. Think i might do it again if i can find the right combination of sizes for my jeep.

oh btw 37x13 boggers measure 36.8" ( on the interco site) and i back taht up as my 37 boggers were 1/2" taller than my 36 swampers. They are easily a full 1" taller than a Q78

but they are by no means a skinny tyre.

My boggers pretty good on road, I wouldnt reckon any worse than a simex or normal swamper.

Q78 is probably better suited to victorian terrian, however the boggers are damn sexy, and you'll have more fun and get scared more often running boggers.

If you want to get creative, you can run a 34x11.5 jungle trekker 2 on the front and a 35x10.5 bogger on the back. They are only .1" different in diameter. This would be a fairly good setup imho.

i woud luv to run some of the bigger sizes surggested.
but a true 35 is all i can fit without having to re do all my lift set up
i run the 35 Radial claw with no real rubbing issues.
that why i thought a 35 bogger Q78 or 35 Extreme trekker would be my choices.
i have always be keen on the bogger for the "Horn factor", but if it is going the drive like shit i may have to re think.

Go the 78. I like boggers too, and we will have a car in the club running a set over this winter, but they are pretty silly.

Good point- I ran claws for a while and hated them - the q78's were much nicer (and quieter!) on the road.
