Scat on ebay

There's a nice looking Scat ute on ebay going pretty cheap, claims it has a 2.8 litre diesel when I thought they all had rather smaller motors than that.
I've got too many projects on but if I didn't I reckon it would be a really cool little purchase. Pull the tray off and away you go.

Would a rocky turbo bolt onto that 2.8?
I have no connection whatsoever to this sale, just stumbled on it while browsing ebay!
Cheers,
Jason

The later Scats did come with the 2.8, same as the Rockys, so a turbo would bolt straight on. Its a mod I have thought of myself. EDIT, but, looking closer at the ad, it says the motor is a DG, which as far as I know, is the 2.5. The 2.8 is the DL.

The last of the Scats had the DL 2.8L (like mine). The only differences between F60 DL and the Rocky DL's motor are:
Inline Injector pump (Rocky's had rotary injection pump)
Timing Gears
3-bearing camshaft
Camshaft driven Oil Pump
26mm gudgen pin size
A motor of the that size makes the Scat quite fun to drive. My Scat also has the 5-speed, though I wish it had a taller 5th gear ratio.
The only thing about the early 5-speed box is that lock nut to hold the top gears together on the shaft tends to loosen off. This can result in popping out of gear and selectiong problems. This can be rectified on rebuild using the updated shaft and lock nut. I my Scat had this problem and I been told it is fairly common.
