Who is a good dyno tuner in Brisbane for a 04 - GUTD42Ti?

Hey Guys,

I have had a search on the archives - plenty of info about places down in Victoria and NSW but not a lot mentioned up hear.

What I'm after is someone to increase the boost to 12psi and tune the fuel / air ratio's etc. The vehicle already has a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and dump.

Not really interested in getting the turbo machined like what MTQ do - would rather leave the turbo as is.

I plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time so good workmanship and long lasting is what I'm after.

Cheers
Chris.

the best would have to be Q.D.A.D. as they do a lot of the comp trucks.ph.38140703.www.qdad.com.au. otherwise i know 4x4 excellence at brendale does a pretty good job too.i had my gu ute done by 4x4 excellence and had no intention of going to nuts because of warranties and it made a HUGE difference

Thanks for the reply,

What did 4x4 excellence do to your ute?
Do either of the places you mentioned have a dyno?

Cheers
Chris.

chunderlicious,
Do you have any contact details for Mike Topfer? I have searchd in the Yellow pages and on google and can,t come up with anything.

mickyd555,
I spoke to Craig at Highway Diesel about 2 weeks ago and he said it was goung cost somewhere between $1500 and $2000. He said they pull the injector pump off and injectors out then after checking everything they reassemble and tune the vehicle. It seems to me like a bit of overkill just for a tune up, the car only has 90,000 on it - I might be wrong though.
Have you used them?

Thanks for the replies
Chris.

thats alot mate for what you have been qouted.

You may need your injectors done as they are coming up to 100k..

However saying that,

If you have a 3" exhaust shouldnt cost any more than $300 including a dyno run.

Then I would recommend fitting a pyro to monitor your temps. I did mine at 5k old went to 14psi and never had a problem.

G'day Weeman,

Thats what I thought too!

As you say maybe injectors done at 100K but to remove and check injector pump for worn parts??? not sure on that one.

Whats the max exhaust gas temp you run on yours? I heard 520 after the turbo is a safe limit.

Depends what your after, if you dont want the pump removed Im sure Craig would be more than happy to work on the car anyway. I have used them and would never take my diesel anywhere else. If your after 12Psi than you probably should get some pump mods aswell. this is not an expert opinion but it would probably not damage the engine without the mods but you would be much happier with them.

that is a touchy subject, some people think no higher than 500, 550, 600 or 650 under heavy load. all depend on what you want. 500 will give you a very reliable engine that always stays cool will not likely have any premature wear etc. 650 will shorten the engine life, not be as reliable have a higher chance of overheating but will strap you in for a good ride getting there.

520 is a good temp to work on.

to be honest pushing mine around town nothing over 400 or in the bush

if get a trailer with a comp truck still fine, however when i went to alpine thats when i had problems the truck had been working for a few hours and hard so once we hit the hills we were getting upto 600 but we backed off and just drove the comp truck up and my exhaust temps went down.

I agree with the above. Leon is a genius on the dyno.

I just got mine done here in Albury. Cost me $220 and included a before and after dyno run which resulted in an increase of 16% kw and torque.
