G16B hunting in revs

Hey,
now taken the zook for a drive and so. it hunts for revs about 1500-2000 when stopped and then settles down after 30 sec or less. does not seem to do it all the time so far but not too sure on that. idle seems a bit higher than normal but unsure on proper specs for motor.
does not seem to effect normal driving at all either.
Is this mayb related to fuel issue or dirty throttle body idle circuit or something else.
Last one - Can someone get a pic of the sticker from under the bonnet of a G16B mpfi vit.

When i swapped my 1600 from the SWB to the LWB it did the same thing for about a month then just went away ?? after checking every thing and changing filters fuel with no luck someone sugested the ecu mapping thingy may have lost memory after sitting not connected to battery for some time and they said it would go away, it did.

ah ok sounds possible as it was sitting in a front cut for a while.
never seemed to do it sitting in driveway only whilst running and under load.

Do the multipoint engine's have an ISC solenoid , if it does this can cause hunting if the tube is kinked or the solenoid is damaged , Cheers Paul.

Ahh found it (Idle Speed Control - it's a solenoid valve on the throttle body that controls an air flow that bypasses the butterfly in the throttle body.)
Q is do they have one and. What do they look like or where do they normally hide. i am guessing on the throttle body side.

is this it? found this while trolling around on the net.
This type of idle control valve is fitted to the manifold of many vehicles including Suzuki, Hyundai, Proton, and of course Mitsubishi. They are commonly failing in the stuck open position (fast idle). In order to test if the valve has failed, disconnect the electrical plug with the engine just running. Turn igniton off. Then restart ignition and refit plug. If the valve is working correctly the idle speed should immediatley increase even higher. If not, call BBA if you would like a quote for a reman unit.

That would be it , give it a try ,Cheers Paul.
P.S. If you have a factory manual for that motor it will tell you how to fix/test everything on that motor , might be worth the investment if you are going to keep the 4wd , Cheers Paul

nicbeer -
Do you have a FSM for an efi g16?
Do you have a check engine light and diagnostic plug?
If you do, fit the jumper to turn on the flash codes, it should tell you if you have a problem.
G16B computers are pretty stable and will run under all sorts of duress. It will definitely clear things up if you can get a trouble code. They will even run "fine" with the O2 sensor unplugged and you won't really know unless you get a check engine light and then get the right flash code.
I will be away for the W/E but I do have a G16B FSM, let me know how you go, I can maybe help out with trouble codes and some wiring info.

cool steve.
I do have the light there and also the small diag plug. didnt think of that to try.
check engine light does not come on when driving only when key in on b4 start as believe as normal. i will have a check thou.

Went through something similar with LJxtreems LJ hybrid "critta." Lets say there was some "interesting" wiring in it and after a long time, Mock figured out that the OS sensor (one wire - it was a whacky JDM spec motor like the early auto estate wagons) wasn't hooked up, the plug was installed 90 degrees out.
Thing is, it ran fine, only occasionally fired the check engine light after a fair while at full temp/load, and did hunt at idle.
see how you go.

interesting.
mine is a import 5 door auto estate orig. it did look to have a dual o2 sensor it seemed before and after cat. i do not have a cat in the new zook. i do have the 02 sensor in the extractors but only one and not one in the middle section.
i'll check the codes tonight if i can.

Are you sure the second sensor is O2? I know some cars run dual 02 sensors, but this would only be a very late model. what year was your cut?
Many japanese cars of about this age run a temp sensor for the cat to warn of overheating the cat.
In fact, both the cappuccino and the 660 sierra cluster I have at home have cat overtemp warning lights, and it is common on import silvias etc too.
I think is is present on non coilpack cars that can't control timing- maybe it was japanese emissions (now there's an oxymoron!) thing to prevent cars with retarded timing driving around cooking their cats.
I don't know if it will mess with idle, but it wouldn't surprise me.
