Why not use a Pajero motor and manual gearbox, from a later model? The Commo V6 is hardly the most desirable motor in the world.

do u need any adaptor kits or anything to change the motor? would the 3.5liter motor fit into my car?

niether of the mistubishy v6's will fit into ur car if it's a 2.6 without some minor mods i know.
the commo v6 would be more work again.
but the 3.5 or 3.8 pajero motor or even 3.0l triton motor is ur best bet keep it mitusbishi.

get the twin turbo 6 they ran in the rallyart dakar paj out of japan
you could prolly get hold of one from one of the mobs that brings in that kind of stuff, you can land the car for the $20k reagion so the engine \ gearbox would be prolly a pretty good price

i would choose an engine that has room to spare around it in the engine bay and is not so hi-tec for ease of maintanance and repair
spend the coin on a good suspension setup and a solid drive line
it will reward you 10 fold compared to a wild motor and shit suspension and drive line

yer thats y i was thinking a vr commo motor, they r pretty simple and then after i got that in i was going to do a sas. wat diff and axle do u recomend for the front and would it be worth getting a matching rear one? then i will lift it some more and get decent shocks. i am also looking at getting diff locks further down the track as well. any advie on things or help would be great. thanks mate

I would go out and buy a '94 (NJ) onwards one first, 10times better. You say money no object. NJ can be found for less than 10 grand and you would end up spending that on an engine swop after you blown the diffs with the V6.

as with any part i would try to keep it simple and comon,
don't fall into the trap of one off custom parts, because if you brake it on the trail none of your mates will have the bits to save you. if you use of the shelf bits chances are that someone will have something in there shed to help you out
nissan patrol diffs would be a good option i think
