hey guys has anyone tried the simex m/p trekkers on a zook?
if so what r they like?

Are these the 750 R16 trekkers? I tried to get these but was told they arent in aus in anymore??? They look like a really good tire for a zook tall an skinny

yup thats the 1's.they seem to only come in 1 size which looks to be roughly 32.2" x 8.5" but still might go the 33" x 10.5 jt2's

oops made a typo was meant to be 34"x10.5

I believe the m/p and the jt2 are in two different catergories. As the jt2 is a really cool extreme mudder If you can afford the jt2 go for them the side lugs are extremely big, cool and noisy The M/P's are alot cheaper and less chunky. Cool all the same and shouldnt put as much stress on stock suzi axles

I run m/p tekkers on my zook. Just a skinny Extreme Trekker. Best tyre for them in my opinion. Give heaps of diff clearance, good approach/departure angles, able to spin them in the mud and you can still turn the steering wheel because there so narrow. Look pretty good too...

does the narrow width make the zook any less stable?

Probably does make it little less stable, but you could run a larger offset rim or spaces to make up track width. I haven't found it to be a big problem though.

I think the loss of stability will be more than made up for by the narrow tyre. Suzuki's love very narow tyres in most victorian conditions - hard but slick muddy surfaces.

i run fedima tyres, simex copys.

fan bloody tastic in the mud.

not bad on road either.

I guess you are referring to the MP trekker? (which is 7.50 16)?

Anything from 4.5" stock sierra to 6.5" V6 vitara. I would say the same for an actual 8.5.


In the do as I say and not as I do category.... I am running 9" wide swampers on 4.5" rims ATM and although I could never recommend it they seem happy enough, and are actually quite quiet on the road too. They are crowning like crazy though, but I don't really see that as a big problem on a cross ply tyre.

Isn't a stock sierra rim a 15".....not the 16 you would need to run something like a 7.50 16, I have been looking in to this as an option for my LWB 85. Anyone have any comment on how they would run on the rocks? I had a funny feeling they are fairly soft compound, so I thought they might be O.K.

we had a guy on a trip 2 weeks ago on small rims (wouldn't be more the 5.5inch) he lost the tire off the bead at 12psi. The tires were way stiffer at this pressure then ideal for off roading. so I would recommend factoring in some beadlocks or tubes if you decide to get them.

And that would have been 4WD Junky, who asked the question in the forst place Muppetman.

I agree, tubes could be the go. It doesn't do anything to dispel my theory that simex's fall off rims at about 12PSI though.

I think it would be a waste to buy super narrow internal beadlocks for such a cheap wheel/tyre combo, and weld in kits have well known issues (I love them, though)

I'd give tubes a go first.

I agrea, If the 4by weighs less then 1.5 tonne, you need beed locks for simex. as they dont Bag ( form to the shape of rocks and other obsticles) as well as other brands, great for in the mud,

I have spoken to 2 guys running these tyres (mainly for off road use) and they recon they are a heaps softer tyre, Havent tried them myself so I am only repeating wht i've been told.

I think the 33" go for around $200, so the 31" should be cheaper you would think!

Mongrels are soft - they are based on a radial carcass (they're a remould) so have the soft sidewalls of a radial.

soft sidewalls help a tyre stay on a rim, which is where swampers have an advantage over a simex.

Only 10.5 wide sizes though in the mongrels.

Christover has been running the retread versions for ages now and they work well on his car and do bag very well.

Chuck some tubes in em , run down to 7psi and they still don t bag out on a zook! Havent tried em any lower, but I reckon you could probably run em at 5 if you have power steering.

I thought he was down around 8psi, !2psi makes it worse. I suggested to him to go and grab some Simex heavy duty tubes and chuck them in. Also his suspension seemed so stiff. He was bouncing around a lot more than I thought he should have been.

hmm I think we need him to confirm the pressure himself.

go the jt 2's in sand and mud i dont even need to put it in 4wd where most other 4x4's get bogged in 4 lo

need gears tho and 5" lift as a min
