I'm assuming stock vitara rims would narrow my track,
compared to stock Sierra rims.
I have Sierra stud pattern fitted to axle already

By how much?

No I'm not narrowing Da Frog :))
I building a trailer and may need to narrow it to match the Frog width,
by a tad.

Haven't searched, even tho I know this has been well discussed. But I don't really understanf the tech terms.

Model Rim Size Offset
Sierra 15' x 5.5" 10P
Vitara 15" x 5.5" 25P
Vitara 2.0 V6 16" x 6.5" (alloy)
Grand Vitara 16" x 7" 5P
Jimny 15" x 5.5" 5P

So vitara rims will make the car 15mm narrower per side than sierra, (for the same rim width) - or about 3m narrower than your offset

25P will give you the narrowest track width of any off the shelf rim - it will measure up at about 4" backspacing (an actual 3.75" backspacing)

PS narrow tyres are all you want on a trailer so I would avoid 31s etc- it is only more rolling resistance you have to drag along. You are wise to try and match your track width though. Another option might be lj/ sierra 16" rims and tall, narrow tyres like your old SAT's.

Well, Chris's rims do measure their backspacing the way most people measure offset ;)

16's have crossed my mind.
See what comes up at what price.
See how width looks etc.

Smaller diameter are supposed to offer less resistance, too.
So there will be a compromise.
Don't wanna be too smaller diameter, or it won't follow well.

I'm making it up as I go along.

Yep, the buggers won't stay on the hubs without a nut or two on.
Often had them land in my lap during fitting
