How good are the 80 series factory electric diff locks? Are they prone to water/mud damage or are they just as good as an aftermarket locker?

Have found a Sahara with the factory lockers and a part time conversion kit I'm looking at.

hi i own a sahara and have had no problems with the lockers, they do however suffer from water in the workings if you submerge them alot....so yes they need maintenance every so often. they are not as good as the arb's because they take a while to engage and disengage, but who cares, they are there when you need them....the other thing is you can only operatethe front with rear in, which is thesame as std arb but easily modded to be either or both.
So...yeah...good trucks the sahara...if it has sliding back windows it is aussie, if not it is japanese and only 5 seats.

agreed on....
you wont go wrong... can mod the loom (earth one wire) to make the rear difflock turn on without the front..

yeah they are great unit but as said slow to engage and also the solenoid can fail. i have heard of using air instead of a electric solenoid but have not seen this with my own eyes. the wiring is easy to modify to allow you what you want locked.
