Bought a truck with 80's series front axel housing that had been shaved,
but no drain plug put in. Got some water in the diff oil and need to drain
it.
Just wondering if someone could recommend the best way to drain
the diff oil without a drain plug.
Thanks!

Take the centre out and fit a plug, it will haunt you forever

Use a big syringe with a flexible hose on the end and suck it out through the filler.

take the lowest stud out that holds the third member in and replace it with a suitable bolt. aka new drain plug

Yeah just drain through lowest stud hole.
It will take a while and it wont get out every drop but it works.

Step 1:
drill a hole on the bottom to drain all oil out,
Step 2:
weld up when finished.
Step 3:
drill a hole in top to refill,
Step 4:
repeat step two.

most easiest by far is to remove the lowest bottom stud out as its basically a hole.
once done.. stick a bolt in there.... Or put the stud back in there.
Like said before....
