Meshing in front of radiator for touring...

Hi all,

Listen im just wondering what material people use for meshing in front of their radiators for touring to minimise bugs, etc clogging the radiator ??

I had a look at our local Clark rubber equivalent yesterday and they sell aluminum flyscreen mesh which looks alright, maybe too fine.. Or fine chicken wire like 5x5mm Maybe not fine enough..

Any ideas, pictures ??

Thanks very much,

Hof

Shadecloth works a treat, even in locust plagues

depends if the turbo is cooled via a scoop or not, if it is then there should be no probs with meshing the radiator methinks... then, i dunno if theres a prob with meshing the turbo cooler...

Most hardware stores sell a fiberglass (I think) version of flywire which is much easier to work with as it is soft

Watch out it can cause overheating in heavy conditions. Best to mount it on a frame that can be easily removed for heat issues or cleaning. Father tows a large caravan with a Troopie and has experienced heating issues with mesh in, taken out, no issues.
Hope this helps,

Don't use the aluminium flywire as it causes electrolysis with the radiator if it touches, I just use the soft nylon stuff, chuck it away when it is clogged.

If his troopy is overheating because of the mesh being there then he has other issues. His cooling system is obviously at breaking point.....

No doubt he has driving lights fitted, they restrict airflow a lot more than a neat flymesh job will (assuming the mesh is clean)
