what year 75 is it?
if he's serius put a auto t350 or 60 sereis auto behind it a cruiser manual will realy slow him down.
mine runs a hot 308 with a h55 (early gearbox). the change from 1st to 2nd is a mater of seconds. it doesn't have the syncro problems of the later model boxes. h150. but is not as strong.
if it's after 91 model keep the 5spd. cheeper option. if it's before and he wants to go faster use a gm or 60/80 auto.
the standard h55 5spd is a slow and hard shifting box not suited to a v8.

ah it will have the good manual in it.
after 90 they got a stronger g-box i think better shift pattern aswell.
it will hold up. i'm curious on how long mine will last now, time will tell.

I was keen on runing the late model box but just had to make shore I was going the right way.
Thanks for the advice Known 2.

my headers r custom made extractors, funny bends in them about 2 1/4 inch be sure to heat shield them before they go in cos ur foot wells will heat up shit loads, and also to protect ur starter motor as it will have to run fairly close to it and if it gets to hot it can fry the solinoid.
Are u going to run 2 into 1 or just strait 2 out the back?
learnt that last week, expensive.

I had a 75 with a 308 & T400. The only downside was going down hills. Exellent for everything else. Keeping cool was also a problem but radiator on the tray with thermos cured that.

the auto would make it such a a better truck.
as for keeping it cool . ditch the engine fan and make a shroud for a big thermo fan.
i have no engine fan and a big thermo on the radiator but it still gets hot in slow work, so i need to build a shroud to utilize all of the radiator.

Yeah, I tried the thermo only in a shroud and it woudn't work on the highway. I worked on it until midnight for a 5 o'clock start to cruiser park once and only got to the Caloundra turnoff from Maroochydore before I had to turn around because it just got too hot. I ended up running an engine fan, a large thermo in front of the radiatior, which cooled the auto cooler aswell, and then had the radiator on the headboard of the tray with 2 smaller thermo's. No drama's then, hi or low speed. Then I had to work on electricals, oh well. Isn't playing with cars like the penis chasing the fanny down the road - one ferking thing after another.
