Feroza People

While doing a search for Feroza LSD's I came accross a diff lapping site and on this site it listed many manufacturers and there diff types.

Here is the site
http://www.difflap.com.au/ratios/def.htm

Now the interesting thing to find out was what type of diff the Feroza has and it seems they are Hitachi Diffs. Anyway here is what is listed for the feroza

DAIHATSU 1994 FEROZA,H180,4X4, WAGON, 4CYL, LO, LSD Ratio: 7X37
DAIHATSU 11/92 FEROZA,R180,FRONT, 4X4,4 CYL,INDEPENDANT, FRONT, 1.6LT PETROL Ratio: 7X37

The interesting bit I have made red and from my Datsun days
(here he goes again) I know that a R180 is an Hitachi independant diff also come in R160 (smaller, 1600, or WRX), R180 (240z, 240K, 260z etc) R190 and R200 (300zx, skylines, silvias etc), the numbers represent the distance accross the diff (SIZE) or something so 160 is 160mm, 180 is 180mm etc and a H180 is of the same series as a bluebirdand the Bluebirds had H190's which would have to be similar. Also the Datsun 720 utes also had R180's at the front in different ratios as well.

I Do know the R series diffs are very Tuff, have seen plenty of R180's pushing out 250+hp at the wheels and last a long time so no wonder the feroza diffs are strong.

Anyway getting to my point is I know they make R180 LSD's  , or I know centres can be made, also if people are looking for a diff this might help a little as they may be able to find one easier. Not owning a Feroza at the moment though I can't make any direct comparisons with the H190 to the H180, However I do know there are H190's LSD's around as well. The site also mentions other H series diffs etc.

Thought this might be usefull :?:

G'Day Snake,

I doubt whether the "R" series diffs you are refering to & the Feroza Front Diffs are that similar - the Feroza Front Diff was strong enough for the basic aplication but was always the "weak" link in the drivetrain.
I'd wouldn't like to put 250HP thru a Feroza Front diff - had enough trouble handling 100HP thru a TX Case & Lincoln Locker :D

The "R" series of diff's made by nissan (datsun) were used in a number of sports cars, with the famous RS200 (lsd) in the DR30 skyline and the s12 silvia, it was known by some as the "japanese nine-inch". i am guessing this is what you would be talking about, but i doubt very much this would be used in a '90's feroza, as this was relatively old technology by then and also produced by a different manufacturer.
