Engine problems

G'day,

I've had a look through the bible and searched for my help. I didn't find info i was looking for though.

Anyway, my problem is that when my car is cold it misfires and sounds like its running on 3 cylinders. It is fine once it warms up. It also backfires a fair bit, which sounds louder than any other backfires i've heard.

I have had the carbie rebuilt, had s/plugs and leads replaced, had an ignition tune-up and did a minor service my self( all fluids and filters). Dad and i also the clened the contacts in the distributer. However it still misfires when cold, but runs fine when it warms up and it still backfires.

What other possible problems could there still be, should there be anything to look out for.

I have a fairly conservative driving style so i don't fang the zook, i don't heavily accelerate or dump the clutch etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers,
Sean

Sounds like it might be "over choked" as in its running way rich on the choke. Back the choke off a bit and see how it goes.

Layto....
