Neg. batt. terminal super hot!!! (2H glow plug prob.)

Hi all,
I've got a prob with the glow plugs not heating up.
Occasionally (once a month) the glow plugs click on then immediatly click off of don't click on at all, for the rest of the month they glow for the normal time (around 5 secs).
I've checked all connections and wiring, also thested the plugs them selves and replaced one but still same prob.
Also what is the aerosol to help start it if the glow plugs don't work and where can I get some.
Cheers,
Luke.

Rokinferoza are you serious about the product name or is that what your mate yelled down the aircleaner ;0)

thats the stuff.
I noticed today that it wouldn't start and saw a puff of smoke come of the negative battery terminal and noticed that the clamp on the terminal was melted!!!.
The glow plugs still didn't heat at all but every thing else worked fine.
would it be a short in the glow plug circut or could a solinoid or some thing have shat itself???
Thanks for all the help in advance
Cheers,
Luke.

Luke the 1st thing I would do is replace both battery leads with new ones and clean the terminals .If your getting puffs of smoke off the neg terminal you have got a bad connection for certain and is probably the cause of all your problems. Also check where the neg lead bolts to the motor.Mine corroded down there recently and caused a few problems. Glow plugs really suck the current and your battery/connections have to be good.
Maybe a simple solution.

Roscofj73 i think you were bang on right, thanks.
I might be lucky, the -ve battery terminal clamp had slightly melted in my attemp to start it
, got some 'start ya bastard', kicked over straight away parked in shade, its hot in sydney today, beers going down well. Anyway when I took off the melted -ve terminal clamp, it was cracked underneth and the earth cable which is original (19 yrs old) was partly broken and pretty badly oxidized. Stripped it back, cleaned it up and bobs your uncle, works great. I'm hoping that there was just too much resistance at this connection. I'll pick up a new earth cable tommorow anyway.
Thanks to those that suggested stuff.
One other question, does the 2H have a temp sensor that stops the glow plug working once the engine is up to temp?
Cheers,
Luke.
