Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I'm doing a custom snorkel for my 80, and trying to work out what diameter pipe to use...? A mate has 3" on a 4runner which isn't big enough (looks like a drinking straw on the 80) but I don't know if I want to go straight to 4" as the truck isn't anything wild/hugely lifted etc, and it would look kinda daft to have a monster snorkel....

What does a 4" look like, anyone got any links or photos??

I'm thinking 3.5" as a compromise...?!

I think Coighty on here has a 4inch snorkel is a champayne 80 series have a look at pics to do with the outback challenge he'll be on there.

A four inch would look awsome and like you sayed a three inch looks like a drinking straw. A 3.5 would be too small and hard to find bends, pipe and so on. Go the 4 four sure.

went the 3.5, and going to go the 90deg out the guard in steel, so the hole will need to be elongated... Anyone got securing idea other than tek screws or nutserts for the A pillar...??

mm, not the biggest fan of hose clamps...

Still dreaming about a nutsert gun, but more likely it'll end up being tek screws and sikaflex. Or maybe a variation on the pop rivet idea, but gal or alum rivits are going to play merry hell with my steel snorkel aren't they (ozmosis or whatever its called - AKA rust...)

Went 3.5, will look just fine, now chasing a 3.5" to 3.25" silicon hose reducer... Ideas? The air box is 80mm or 3.25" and I can't be assed adapting it to be 3.5 so a hose should do the trick. With steel 90 out the guard tho, its going take a bit of elongation to get the elbow to sit up nice and tight to the guard.

you could try a trucks parts dealer some benz, ud, cummins or the like, intercooler hoses are about the same size

Hi, this is Coighty's rig as mentioned earlier, can just see the snorkle there, it works very well, can hear it sucking hard even at idle.

another idea on coming out the gaurd is on an angle like mine. this is a 3" mandrel. u need to keep it close to the body

This is where we are at currently... NExt stop, out the guard...!

Need a 3.5" hose reducer to 3.25" as the airbox is 3.25" (best guess). I'm thinking purple pig hoses in bayswater, but if anyone knows a hose joint near mt Waverly, that'd be handy!
