the old man's turbo shat itself on his 2.8 diesel gu a while ago, i can get a cheap turbo to suit the 3 litre navara, will this work,

the gu turbo has the 3 bolt exhaust flange, what does a nav one have,
if this plan dont work who does good priced turbos for these, also can an upgraded one be bought..

thanks

3lt Navara has a non intercooled ZD30. Same as the GU ZD30. What does that mean dunno.

The ZD30 turbo is a non wastegate turbo, its a variable vein turbo, the same thats on the GU 3.0L so it won't match up to the 2.8l. 2.8's have a very weird setup.

the RD28T is a Garrett T25.

there is 2 turbo units on ebay for a 2.8 gu..

around the $250..

i purchased a new one (as stated above) gt25 from mtq for $1500.. yikes..

you will have trouble finding anything to fit without mods to the manifold.

im currently fitting a gt2560r to my rd28t but that is in a gq, but same motor i guess, it bolts up to the manifold easy u just have to run your own oil and water lines. the only thing is that it has a t25 exhaust flange which wouldnt bolt up to the factory exhaust for you. i got my upgraded turbo for $900 so still pretty cheap, but like i said mines for a gq so dunno if it is to relevent

there are 2 factory turbo's for the ZD30 that i know of. the navarra runs the normal wastegated type while the patrol uses a variable turbo.

the navara turbo possibly could be used but you have to remember that it flows more air than the 2.8 turbo and possibly even more than the 4.2 turbo. unless your planning on running high boost, a smaller turbo might be better.

yup the same manifolds are shared between the 2.

so the 2.8 in the gq have a 4 bolt turbo flange on the manifold and the manifolds can interact with each other therefore running different turbo options on the gu with the gq manifold???

yes the gq have the 4 bolt manifold were it connects to the turbo, the difference is that the gq use a t25 flange to connect the turbo to the dump pipe
