Has anyone got any experience in set up a club or would be interested in looking into forming a Daihatsu/Feroza club in Sydney???

I've been driving around and have noticed a heap of Ferozas around with lifts etc that look like get into the bush a fair bit.

Surely there's more than just us interested in the beasts??????

you have to remember, it can be a pain organising a real club.. do a search, there was a thread in the general 4x4 tech about setting up a club, it can be a pain in the ass..

or you can make in informal club of mates that just go bashing.. I guess thats what this board does - gives you the opportunity to meet people who are into the same thing, and are interested in quick runs.

There is a sydney group for feroza owners but if I tell you I'd have to kill you :D Nah..back when WARFS was the only thing round for Feroza owners a bunch of Sydney Feroza owners got together and became good friends, most have moved on to other vehicles now...even different areas...but we still keep in touch...we even had our own table at a members wedding a while back :D

Best bet is to simply get a bunch of people together as often as you can...make it very social, and a really good reliable group will grow out of it...I made some lifetime friends doing that...

BTW, message to Leon, Mike, AJ and the others I have forgotten...if you don't have details for the group Heath is running, drop me a PM and I'll hook you up with how to contact everyone..

I wouldn't mind going out with these "good ol' boys" sometime.

If you guys plan any trips soon please let me know as I'm always keen to go... I just seem to have to get something fixed every time I go out!!!

Currently on a roll of three outings/3 repair bills... Maybe that's my run ended.... they come in 3's dont they???

Anyway, like I said.... gimme a bell if you guys plan anything in the future.

the other option is to join a non vehicle specific club and get all the Ferozas/Rockys to join that.

Make a secret society within the club slowly buying up all the world supply of ferozas until you can finally launch the surprise attack on Toyotas head office thus putting Daihatsu at its rightful place on top of the 4x4 mountain

Many many moons ago there was actually a Daihatsu specific four wheel drive club in Pendle Hill/Merrylands Sydney. However, as is always the way, the drivers ended up moving to bigger vehicles as families grew and changed the name of the club. I don't know if it is still about, but it was called the Southern Cross 4x4 club a few years ago I believe. Since then there has been nothing.
Starting a club is no easy thing, some of the old Aussie WARFS crew thought long and hard about it, even to the point of approaching ANFWDA. However the logistics of it were off putting and like the story above, allot of the guys ended up buying vehicles other than Feroza's and Rocky's. There was also the fact that allot of clubs have bullshit politics which we did not want to get into. When you start giving people titles and some pull in any scene, then the potential is there for it to turn to crap. Also we had allot of non Daihatsu vehicles tag along and were not really interested in the elitist BS that goes with vehicle specific clubs. (Now do I need to mention names here?)
I agree with Muz on the just getting mates together, pretty soon your a club in everything but name and BS. Hell if you want to get shirts and so on together by all means. At one stage there were even WARFS stickers getting about internationally.
This board is a great resource for getting like minded people together, get some stickers made up and splash them across your rear window, make it and the people will come.
If all else fails, I like the idea of infiltration into other clubs, slowly build up numbers, some quiet assassinations and next thing you know...

Cheers,
Heath

Our local club has a Daihatsu chapter in it. It came about during a club trip. It happened that only Daihatsus turned up this particular day, all 2 of us. The F50, and the F75, so we decided to start our club within a club.
