Have a squiz through these and search for a bit of info about buying used on here.

<8/1993 has leaf springs with some being turbo diesel. Yet the majority are naturally aspirated and some even petrol.

>8/1993 are independant front suspension, coil spring rear, with a intercooled turbo diesel engine.

and maybe find a copy of this months 4wd monthly, has a write-up on buying used Daihatsu 4x4's.

What do you want it for? Mostly on-road and a bit of easy offroad? or a bit more full on offroad?

1993- has IFS, if you click here u can see one at FULL FLEX http://www.users.on.net/~daveros/4x4Monthly.jpg  :P

Whereabouts are you? Might help with people keeping an eye out for them for sale. Check ebay, there's generally at least one up each week.

Turbo ones are getting pretty hard to find, especially turbo models with a solid front axle.

Is it normal for the turbo to sound a little bit more like a scream then a wistle?

Not really mate, mine just has a nice whistling noise, not overly loud.

If its more of a 'scream', the turbo may be getting a bit worn? Im not sure.

Ok guys have found a turbo intercooled one 93 model took it for a test drive now i have a few questions i need answered before i ring him with an offer
1. Is it normal for the turbo to sound a little bit like a scream with standard exhaust
2. is it normal after you take it out of 4wheel low you have to drive little bit before it pops back to 2wd and the light go's off
3.it has had the head changed should i be worried?
4. is leaking a little bit of gearbox fluid should i be worried?
Thanks guys any help would be great if anyone wouldnt mind either giving me a call or even me calling them let me know too thanks heaps

Also HOT FOUR is the wistle very loud?

1. Not really 'scream'... sometimes you wouldn't even know its turboed.

2. Yes.

3. Hard to say, if it's done properly no, if backyard job, maybe. A crakced head due to overheating etc can often cause other issues or mask another problem.

4. Which part of gearbox? You could be up for a seal or something after depending on how bad it is. Small ones are proably fairly normal.

If I get time, I will record mine under load from in the cabin tomorrow and post up the sound clip.
