Hi guys just posting this up for a mate, he's about to buy a 1994 model suzuki vitara 1.6L manual but it may need a new head or motor, not sure. Im just wondering if anyone can reccommend any wrecking yards in Adelaide or interstate where i could source these parts for him?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You can use a 1.3 head on the 1.6 block..

But it will change the characteristics of the motor unless machined to use vitara valves and running a vitara cam.
How bad is it? Does he know the head is so bad is has to go in the bin? most reco places will tidy up the head for under $400.
Steve.

Yes but it will lose a little power compared to a 1.6 8v head.
If it's a 16v head then the efi won't fit the 1.3 head anyway.

Recently purchased a Japanese import motor for the Vitare 1.6L EFI. Cost me $1,500 from Suzispiorts (
http://www.suzisport.com ) which was the going rate at wreckers I asked for the EFI.
The reason why I went this way was that when we took the head off, we found 6 cracks in the head and 4mm of slap in a valve guide. A reco head was $995 and the new motor was $1500 and there was oly $50 more labour to do the job. 3000 km so far and very pleased with the decision

Thanks for the help guys. Im not sure of the condition of the head, ill have to check with him. I dont think he wants to muck around too much so if he can just find a motor to drop in i think hell go with that. When i find out about the condition of the head ill post it up.
Cheers guys
