Just got some 4.55 diffs fitted to the 80
Just fitted some 4.55 diffs to the 80. Mine is a 4.5 auto. Holy didn't that make a difference all round. Slightly lower than standard gearing but i can' t believe what a difference it made. Heaps better of the mark, better off road and massive difference towing. This combined with teh auto upgrade and the ecu it goes pretty good now. Fuel economy has improved. After a run up the beach from Redcliffe to Rainbow and playing on the high tide mark for fun and then driving back via Gympie I got 16ltrs per 100kms. I was pretty damn impressed with that. If you own an auto cruiser with bigger tyres, the diffs are definitely the go.
After much consideration i used precision gears from the states. We'll see how long they last...................

I went with Motive Gear 4.88's when I did mine. I got three years of hard flogging out of them on 36" TSL's before I eventually broke the front (rear is still going strong). But I dont thinks 38" TSL's helped.Red Rover wrote:

I run mainly 285's and 34 swampers from time to time. I was chasing
improved onroad performance
improved Offroad performance
Better economy
Better towing capability
I can give a big tick to all of the above. But kept in mind the other mods i did as well with the auto and ecu, it has all come together now with the new diffs i think.
