Get another 2.7, you`d majorly regret going to the 2.8 as they are just crap

I totally agree with Guts. Quicker to get out and walk. Can't believe they are legal, they're so gutless.

Mate they are that gutless and slow it`ll still only gather dust even while driving. Best thing you could do with it is throw it out in the ocean so the tugs can use it as an anchor point for getting that ship off the beach.

I have a 2.8 and it rocks! No complaints, not the speediest of engines but I don't really expect much more out of my lux.

Have you thought of selling the 2.8 and buying another 2.7 motor. I recently sold my 2.8 (admittedy with g/box and transfer) for $1600 on Ebay. I assume a 2.7 would cost you more than that, but you also need to factor in the extras you'd need to buy to fit the 2.8, such as fuel pump, air cleaner etc. There is also the problem of wiring the diesel, for instance you'd need to fit some sort of dash light for the glowplugs and there may be tacho connnection issues. You may also have rego problems.
I'd be more inclined to rebuild your 2.7 with the money you get from the 2.8 sale. You may even be able to port and polish the head and buy some extractors for a little extra performance. Rebuilding a motor yourself is easy, even if you've never attempted it before, you just need a workshop manual and a tension wrench.

Er, are we referring to the 2.8 diesel here? The 3l engine.
