It has to be done in whatever state you want to register the vehicle in. A qld bluey will be only worth anything in qld. To rego in NSW it has to be done in NSW.

unregistered vehicle permit its cheap, basicly you get third party insuracne and pay a very small fee at the dept of trans, fill in the form to say its roadworthy n being transfered for what ever reason. Cost me about $130 for two days for DOT and insurance the permit runs midnite to midnite

Wouldn't it be far easier to just simply transfer the rego into your name?

You shouldn't require a road worthy for that either.

Only if he intends on keeping the rego in the state it is already registered. The way i read it, he wants to change states in which its registered, so it will need a blue slip if its intended to change from QLD to NSW rego.

Layto....

Yep you will have to get a blue slip in NSW then re register your car. You have 7-14 (cant remember) days to do this, Although you can claim the existing registration back from the other state......the catch is you have to hand in the plates in QLD and ask for the cash back.

If you live that far away from people, bugga registering the truck

Doubt there would be many cops out your way that would check that sort of thing.

(dont take this advise seriously or road nazi will book you ;))

Unluck mate, would of been easier getting it done on the way home for you.
