not anything silly like a coil breaking down underload or rotor or cap?

im an ex diesel driver so this stuffs new to me, can the coil breakin down make it idle sh#t too, it never idled perfect but it actually pops occasionally like every few seconds, and do i just look for wear and/or crap in the dizzy cap?

Quite possibly the condensor, they are genuine only so don't get repaced with the points as they should.

did as suggested, silly me, dissy cap was arced out, im guessing from when my plugs were stuffed they werent sparking very well and the rotor was tryin to supply power to a plug that didnt want it, so it had too much resistance, cleaned the lead contacts under the cap with some emery and worked a treat, cheers guys
