Hi,
Doing an outback trip and the Donaldson Pre-Cleaner has been recommended on a couple of fronts.
Wondering if anyone has one on there Hilux and if the 7" is OK.... Will it restrict air? Or are people using the 10"
ARB quoted $65.00 for the 7" and $121.00 for the 10â€

I've actually heard of people doing that, wouldn’t you think, being an air intake that the dust particles would still be sucked in…
Much better result (cheaper) if that did work though.
Anyone running the 10â€

Not sure if you are diesel or petrol, I ran a 7" donaldson precleaner on my N/A 2.8 diesel for dusty trips and it worked well, but I did notice a small drop in performance, but only at high revs.
My dad ran a 10" on his 4.5 petrol 80 series and made no comment about power loss.
The 10" would look pretty funny on a hilux IMHO and it would be easy to hit on scrub etc as it will hang out quite wide.
As an aside, I would have thought that a 10" at low air demand wouldn't be as effective as there might not be enough flow to sustain the speed in the centrifuge. someone like isuzurover might be able to confirm this.

Thanks, I was speaking to the guy at ARB and they recomend the 10" for 3lt plus Diesels, so the 7" should be sufficient for the 2.8 you would think. I'm thinking that I may have to go the 10" as recomended. I'm sure that they have fitted a few to the Hilux's and know what there doing.
I've seen the 10" on a Lux and it did look god damn ugly and the size issue is a worry, just one more thing that sticks out that I will have to think about.

These pre-cleaners work better at slower speeds than at cruising speeds Slower air speed in the pre cleaner means better dust separation before it enters the snorkle tube & air filter.
