Have problem with the headlights on my S1 Disco cracking when I go 4WD at night. Have replaced one already it has cracked again. Does anyone know of a conversion or other headlights that will fit as replacement headlights are anywhere from $110 plus for secondhand ones.

Are you running higher wattage globes that cause excessive heat that then crack when they hit water ?

No Just running 55/60w standard globes. At the moment just driving around with cracked headlights. Cost too much to replace.

Is there any other headlights available to replace the original disco S1 headlights. Does Hella or Narva do a conversion. Can anyone give me a heads up

Never heard of them cracking before.
Is your body flexing and applying pressure onto the light housing? Just guessing.
Don't know of any replacements.

Thanx guys. It is a 93 model. Just wondering due to the fact that the headlights are not straight. These ones have the angular front with one side being wider than the other.
With the cracking I thought it might have something to do with the heat being too excessive then hitting cold water while 4wding. Doesn't happen to mates forby's though??

Dam never heard or experienced that before. I would look at the problem from a different angle othrwise you may just end up cracking some aftermarket ones to.

I think any of the glass ones can crack when hot and cooled suddenly - unlike the poly carbonate ones.
One of our old Hella spots (Disco OME) went the same way when immersed in cold water once - but the other survived.
??Turn them off before going into any water??.

I found that I broke a couple of lights only on my right hand side though. On further investigation I noticed that the originals had a thin bit of rubber around the outside of them and I hadn't got this on the second hand ones.
I'm going disco 2 ones though as my bro has run them for a bit and not had any cracks. Not sure what mods if any I'll have to do to the mounts, ask me next week

have had the same problem but was caused by the head light leaking water in when driving through ,does your lites mist up on hot or cold days internaly on the glass this also causes them to crack, poor seal of the lite at the back where the globes fit cause the problem.it still happens with the narva upgrades to!!!
