Hey yall, i just bought a new zook but things dont seem to be the way they should, compared to my current zook/project.
firstly the front inicators/parkers are all orange
the front bumper is almost level with the front grill,
there is no carbon canister and there are little stickers over the holes like the inside.
there are no flares and never have been
it has skinnies on it like the old 2 strokes
it has a centre console and cup holders over the handbrake
the hand brake has a lock built into the whole unit
it has factory looking H4 globe holder/covers
the air intake is nothing like the 1l or 1.3 or even 1.6 but is definately suzuki
all the stickers under the bonnet are japanese
the instructions for transfer use are also japanese with only 2h/4h/4l being understandable for me anyway.
Also just in case you saw it, it was the one with no motor or gearbox on ebay for the last week. finished project is on the horizon, 3 years too late but its comin

the guy wrote down lj50...... as the engine number. The car doesnt have an engine yet as im putting my f10a in and the cup holders look like they would only fit red bull or the like im hoping it was an F10A. An lj50 as an engine would be a sight to see

It will have had a 660cc turbo in it.
The F10A will bolt up to the engine mounts but the gearbox mount will be in the wrong spot.
The flush bumpers are to get the car to fit into the size restrictions for the Japanese Kei class for 660cc vehicles.
The carbon canister is a little plastic one and sits on the drivers side inner guard.
Definitely post some photos - there are lots of versions of these.

Oh, engine number would have been F5A or F6A depending on year.
I would have thought it will be almost impossible to get this registered unless you sit down with an engineer and work out what he wants. I think the only way would be with a carby/efi 1.3 or 1.6, plus all the ususal aDR conversion stuff like lights/belts etc.
this car will nominally be an 86 or newer car so you won't be able to make it legal with a F10A in it.
You might be able to make it legal with the "correct" motor in it - nominally an F5A. As these are now past the 15 year rule the ADR's on them are less stringent. F6A's are wtill not legal under the 15 year rule as far as I recall.
Just some thoughts.

cool im screwed
i just registered it in my own name, if i had the original motor i would be on easy street, WITH A TURBO
(going by what you said). The picture posted above doesent look the same, this one has a steel grill and no mounting points for mirrors. Also that front bumper is out heaps further than the one i got. ill post pictures soon i leave for work before light and dont get back till dark. I might have to use this one for parts for the heap i got now. As the plates are unreadable (not in japanese) on the inner guard and thats the reason i bought it in the first place
guy i brought it from said 85

Hmmm,
no guarantee that 85 was turbo, may have been an atmo 550. I don't have my copies of Super Suzy (Jimny club of Japan) with me atm, but I am pretty sure it would have been atmo. If it has a bonnet scoop it was turbo.
Not sure what parts you will be after but the diffs are typically really low ratio (5.38:1
) and transfer is too - up to 3.3:1!
Might actually be easier to swap the stuff over onto a running, registered car than try to work with that one, but an exploratory call to an engineer will help a lot.

it has no scoop
'quote' Gwagensteve-Might actually be easier to swap the stuff over onto a running, registered car than try to work with that one.
this is what i brought it for already
. Plans were weld in provided panels that were cut out of trans tunnel, then put in my totally over hauled diffs, engine, gearbox, transfer, all drive shafts, steering box and brand new steering linkages, radiator. Rebuild the brakes job done easy summer cruiser and my "quick" 4 year project car is done. We all know how much projects hurt when they are in the way everytime you go in the shed to get something.
the guy said it was registered- which i checked and basically was
the guy said it was a one litre- which i believed because it has the metal grill and is a SWB and repeatably it has been said you cant get the things imported (last 3 years i have been looking at this thread)
anyway the body is straight its registered in my name now (i have sticker) and have applied for change of engine no.
ps why do my replys end up forever long

http://www.suzuki-w.co.jp/history2/jimny/jimSJ30.html
mine is the exactly the same as the white one except the dash which is all sj40/ 1 litre but mine is red.
http://cartown.jp/new_detail.php?pcode= ... desc&fsw=3
i also got the air filter box in the engine bay shot in the box of spares
and i just took the dicky cover off the axles to find no locking hubs? therefore full time 4x4 yea?
http://www.4x4.in.th/specification.html
3.052 low range
1.741 high range
4.777 diff ratios
lj50 as in the 539cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke found in the lj50 late 1970's
which explains why it could have been imported in relation to immisions
therefore i must have an sj3040 are there any others in oz?

Should be part time 4x4 but u cant run in 2wd Low by unlocking the hubs. when u put tranfer in 2wd it will be in 2wd but front diff will turn always like the older LJ's

der, tard moment looking at the tranfer pattern could have told me that, cheers nicbeer.
