Just wondering if any body has modified there front hubs on an 80 series before, to strengthen them.
I have now snapped the bolts and dowel pins that hold the freewheeling hub to the axle hub 4 times on the same time now, hence need to modify.
So far ive drilled and tapped 100 series bolts into the axle hub. Problem is you cant then fit a 100 series free wheeling hub on, the bolts dont line up the freewheeling on a 100 series hub is bigger. So ive had to redrill the 80series freewheeling hub and redrill the tapper, which doesnt leave much meat on the outside of the hole but on either sides there is still heaps (im hoping this is where the strength is really needed) while not as nicer fit as a stock item with use of an extra washer i think this will fit. Also have new 3/4inch dowel ready to redrill into both ends hoping for a bit more strength.
I'll try to post some pics up shortly.

80 series hubs
I've done mine and not yet had a problem. I just did the 100 series studs, cone washers etc and left the dowels standard. No dramas yet and they have been hanging in for three years with 36 and 38 tsl's. I dont think there is enough meat to replace the dowels with anything decent. But the bigger studs does seem to do the job on its own with the smaller dowels. Just for info sake. On the rear, I also left the standard dowels, but put an extra set of 10mm dowels on each side
