Ready to roll Mog Portal Axles

well as ready to roll as they can be i guess..

but its just a quick question....

If you could get a set of second hand 404 axles (front/rear) that already have the Pinion Conversion Kit, Disc brake conversion with all new components (requires disco series 1 calipers/pads), High Steer arms, Front Diff offset swap, Replacement short shaft to allow locker to operate..

what do you think they would be worth? $7500.00?..just wondering ..

The Diff Offset change will suit Gm, Dodge landrover type transmissions and the disc conversion provides you with a replacment hub which has been machined to accept a disc (It also seals fully on the oil seal in the portal hub), along with caliper mounting brackets, Landrover brake disc, spacers and all nuts and bolts.

Have you been offered this or are you trying to sell this?

Looks like an EOI to me.

Personally, I think if you sold three sets that woudl be alot.

I think there are a lot of people who talk the talk but only a very few who would spend the $$$

Steve.

Ok if your looking to sell them why go with the Landrover Discs? Im guessing they will also be rover stud pattern? Ever tried buying custom Rover Rims to suit 17",18",20" Wheels like i imagine most will want to run on these? Especially in Alloy Rims. The disc conversion can be done with GQ discs and Jap 6 Stud then wheels and brake components are everywhere and much cheaper than the rover stuff.

$7500 is still cheap for what you are offering though. As the average guy is going to pay 5K for the axles and then have to pay others big $$ to do the rest. I would think for the average guy to build what your offering he would need to spend 10K+.

I agree, but would second that rover stuff wouldn't be ideal... they would make the car break down all the time

Seriously though, it you can do it with 6 stud, that would improve your market.

I'm not tyring to be negative, but you will find a lot of people will be interested but they want X width or Y ratio or Z steering setup and they'll use this as a reason why they won't buy, then if you work out the modification they are requesting they'll back out because of the $$$.

Just an observation, not trying to be a PITA.

I'd love too see rigs running them. (and they'd be cool on my G :D)

I put a EOI here a while back and got 2 replys. I have a source for heaps but I have to recover flights etc and the cost of a container etc. I wanted to get a full container but will need big changes in the scene here to move these quantitys, like a mog class or something

cheers bru

As said its just an EOI. If there was interest we would look at getting some. We are getting a,lot of enquiries about mog axles under vehicles and the biggest issue is the cost involved in doing all the conversions locally, its cheaper to get a converted set of axles rather than do it here..hence the question.

As for the brakes we could get a different disc conversion that uses dual piston ford 1 Ton calipers, but uses a 8 on 6.5 rim stud pattern, but i have no idea about the costs on that as it would be from two diferent suppliers.

The landrover setup can also be supplied as a dual caliper setup if wanted..

The main reason for going the Land Rover path is that its a sole supplier and we can get the axles discounted if we buy them as a complete sets. I think with the ford brakes the price would sky rocket dramatically as there would be two lots of shipping, duty etc etc.

If rim choice is the biggest issue then we could get custom offset rims, with either single or double mechanical beadlocks with each set of axles.

Mine mogs owe me about $7700
4x hubs to suit nissan
Nissan rotors

Nissan wheel studs

we change to a NP205 (twin stick) with a pasanger side out put and addapted to a C4

this price does not include spring mounts, shock mounts or any arms and associated mountings

The average guy is going to struggle to even find a set of Mog Axles.

Maybe you can buy a stock set of junk yard Drum Brake Mogs cheaper but these are not Junk yard Drum Brake Mogs.

Pinion conversions are cheap/easy.
But brake conversions - I know of three kits and each of those are big bucks. So unless you have access to a pretty good machine shop.....

But if you know something we don't, I'd like to hear.....

Much cheaper would be a direct purchase ;)

If you want me to bring them in for you and sort out the import duty and relevant taxes, then $7k is more like the mark. For 2 sets I would do it for $12k.
