other than the fact what you are proposing being illegal do a bit of a search through the bible for alot of your answers to questions like these

Also if you havn't had a sierra before wheel it stock for a while! There way different to any other 4x4 i have driven!(Jeep wrangler and xj, hilux's, patrols!)

As you probably all ready no they have a habbit of falling over and a body lift will make that worse!

I would go 3" suspension lift and get out the grinder! More legal too!

Very capable car5s but you have to get a feel for them! ;)

Also why do you want that much lift? What size tyres are you trying to get on it?

I agree with your point suzukiboy.... except this.

a 3" suspension lift on a sierra? you won't need to get the grinder out because it won't flex enough to hit the guards.

Getting the grinder out is not necessarily legal. Most traffic police will have no qualms about defecting a car for structural modifications for cut guards if they feel like it- if they want to put a canary on the car, they will find a way.

2"BL and 2" suspension might be kinda legal in QLD, but the tyre size it allows will not be.

The cost of gearing this setup with a tyre on it will be the real problem. the lift is pretty easy/cheap.

Not rying to be smart but what do you mean it will not hit the guards? On an off set rim it will wont it?

All your other points make sence now i think about it! ;)

3" lifted springs are not soft enough to flex properly on a sierra, so I was (kinda) joking that you won't need to cut the guards with a 3" suspension lift because the tyres will never move up at all.

2" spring lift is legal in Queensland as is 2" Bodylift. Why are ppl suggesting not to go down this way when 90% of modified Sierra have these mods. These mods with a bit of seam bashing will see you being able to run 31's with little to no rubbing depending on your wheel offset. Gearing with this size tyre will be an issue once you start testing the rig offroad.

Where to go, get some OME Dakar springs or EFS and the Outerlimits For Sale section for the Body Lift or PM me. With new U bolts and bushes the whole job will be done for under $600. Don't buy the bushes etc from ARB you'll pay too much, get on to Bruce on NBS.

If you don't have a reason to lift it, I wouldn't lift it straight away. Until you find that what you're driving (terrain or tyre) requires more clearance, travel or both, keep it low, and closer to standard, and enjoy it until you need to modify, or replace renewables or breakages. That might be next week, or never, but step up only as you find you need to, and then only to achieve a result, not just for the sake of it. I think that's the key to what I'm saying. It's late and I'm losing it.

But good purchasing, and welcome to the dark side  You'll be soon stuck forever, and you'll love it.

Good advice there. As for extended shackles, they are illegal, and as a way of just gaining height for no reason, they are a poor option. They will change your caster, and give a more vague feel from the front end.

Extended shackles as Lay80n said are illegal and will effect the feel of the car steering etc. They also make the shackle angle at the back to upright giving a harsh ride. I will be take mine out of the back and just using the fronts as I have a RUF setup I need the fronts.

bit of a hijack, so sorry in advance for that,
i just bought a zook and it has 2" extend climax shackles on it and 2" body lift. U guys reckon i would be better off getting rid of the climax shackles altogether and putting 2" suspension instead? it already runs 31" tyres on offset rims and it seems to flex alright. Ive never owned a car with extended shackles on it, my last zook just had the 2" suspension.

i am going to do 2" BL and 2" extended shackles on my new leafie (when i get it).

Going to use the stock springs and shocks - will these be alright?
Will i need longer shocks with this lift?
If so, Anyone have any brands/part numbers?

For 2" shackles (1"lift) your standard shocks should be ok, body lift doesn't impact on shocks
