long range tank sierra

Post by christover1 »

fitting the tank this way for better clearance, more central weight distribution, better departure angle, and extra fuel is just a bonus. hoping it doesnt lift my c.o.g too much. its from a nissan 260C, christipover.

sweet!

so to fit the tank there, you only need to extend the soft lines to reach the new position and mount the filler mouth right?

thats about all, yes. tho I mis-measured, had to beat the wheel arches a little. its held down with straps to the floor, as in original vehicle.. It would work for a swb, but lack of storage may be an issue. christover

so any carby tank witha decent pump would be sufficient?
i've wandered around the wreckers measureing tanks but i haven't found anything that is good. that long one looks cool though.
wonder if i cant find one small enough to fit under the passenger seat?

my tank is bashed pretty badly now. probably lost about 5-10L of space. i also want the room to stretch the wb. this zook is fully budget now so something cheap is the go.

can you get me some measurements of that tank chris? thanks

my home made roof stopped me from moving tank foreward, a normal zook may not be a prob, christover

i estimate 76.5L - without considering the position of the filler hose.

you have missed the slanted area NAM... 60.4 is the rectangle - you have missed the triangle at the end :)

a = 325 * 225 = 73125
b = (325 - 260) * 225 = 14625

total prism area = a - b = 58500

total volume = 58500 * 1040 = 60840000 cubic mm = 60.84L

interesting...

I did both volumes and added them together...

square volume
260 x 225 x 1040 = 60840000

triangle volume
((325 - 260) x 225 x 1040) / 2 = 7605000

Total Volume = sqare volume + triangle volume = 68445000

= 68.445L

Found the problem - you're area b needs to be halved because it is a triangle - not a rectangle...

You and Chris both fail and can both go back to the 2nd grade :armsup: (finally got to use that emoticon)... ;)
