4.3 V6 Chevy any good in the GQ ?

I'm going postal right now
No TPI V8 engine to get here in Germany for a decent price.............
My question is, has anyone ever tried the 4.3 V6 in a GQ ? The 4.3 is virtually a Small Block Chevy cut by 2 cyl. and is readily available over here in Astro vans together with the TH700 for small bucks.
Opinions ?

4.3 not sold over here unless imported. 3.8 V6 are available here , cheap but not sought after as a copnversion for the GQ. I think it has been done, but most go the V8 route due to the 3.8 being smaller than the 4.2 petrol they would be replacing. V6 is popular with the smaller Toyota's like the HiLux.

I think these are used in offroad race cars, like the toad. Sounds interesting

They used these in Hyster forklifts around the 4 tonne mark, we had quite a few at work. Basically all parts are interchangeable with a V8 small block, same 4" bore etc. I have seen one in a hilux and it is quite a good conversion with plenty of grunt.

That's what I thought. Less weight than the V8, a whole Astro Van with the 4.3 and TH700 can be bought around 1000$ over here and, like you said, most parts are interchangeable to the SBC since the V6 is a SBC cut by 2 cyl.

Well if you use the motor and gear box you can mate the TH700 to a GQ/Gu transfer case, u think that over here in Aus marks adapters do them so you can use the TH700 on the GQ/GU transfer case
you will have to probably do your own engine mounts, possibly use the SBC mounts but put them on the chassis yourself.

The adaptor is not the problem, already laying on the shelf since I'm a distributor for Marks in Germany

Just bought a '92 Chev Blazer S10 with the 4.3 and TH700 combo for 500$ and pick it up next weekend. I'll let you know how it runs once it's in the GQ

sounds good.. Be interested to see how it goes. mate over here had a V6 commodore motor in his GQ after blowing up his 308 commodore donk (spun a bearing)... it went that well with the V6 he didnt change it back for over 2yrs.
