350 chev question about glowing extractors

Post by g35me »

I have the chev idling and within about a minute the extractors are glowing red. Why would this be happening? or is it normal, it doesnt look normal.

i think you mean to retarded, making the bang too late and pushing unburnt or burning gas out into the extractors. check it, advance it til it pings and back it off 5 or so.

Why? some motors are happy with more static/advance than others, the only way to find out how far you can go is to find detonation point....

Balancer could be slipped etc..

leave it and cut out your inner gaurds. drive it down the street on a thursday or friday night (whenever the knobs are out) and let it sit there idling away glowing red.

it looks horn.

other than that for fear of being unpopular.....timing.

i think it helps with gas flow movement as the pipes are colder. also keeps heat away from the heads which means cooler burn and ability to run more timing advance if needed

IM prob wrong , maybe ask google
