Rocky Engine Q?

Just want to know what if anything changed (aside from turbo setup) between an 1984 Rocky (DL-50?) to a 1987 Rocky (DL-51). Are the heads interchangeable? Does anyone have a manual for both or either of these engines? The rocky manual off warfs.org only seem to have DL42 and DL52 listed 
Also, would the DL-51 Engine bolt right up to a Gearbox out of an 84 rocky (DL-50 engine i think)
Reason I'm asking is I'm having head troubles, maybe warped even. Found 2 DL51's that may be pretty cheap and wouldn't mind up grading to a turbo
If the heads are interchangeable this looks to be the easiest option, but if not, out of the 2 motors I could probably make 1 good one. One's got no compression, after 750 000k's 
, the other has a few bits missing off the front, like fan pulley, timing belt cover etc.
Any help or suggestions will be muchly appreciated.
