I would just like to say thanks to the pricks who stole my fourby from the mechanics in North Brissy, I am in the army and currently deployed and was looking forward to coming home and going bush for a week or two.
Thanks to you knobs I am now shy one car and have the insurance company breathing down my neck saying I set it up with a mate. Its looking like I will have to fight to get my payout, cheers once again.
If anyone comes across a ARB Winchbar that has been modified to suit a highmount and a 2 inch body lift and is blue ask where it come from.
Its good to see this is how I get repayed for my service to the country.
NOT HAPPY

I was building a tray for it and was was only half finshed ( not painted and no top) 35 wranglers near new, its just had a respray (White), all bar work is bright blue , twin lockers , Safari Snorkel , 8000pnd highmount with the mods done to by the guy in Melbourne ( oil filler , breathers and strenghening) 40m of Plasma Rope, sticker about country music and inbreeding on the back window, Uniden tx400.
It was a 1992 coil cab with the ST interior and Victorian Rego , thats where I am from.
I am pretty sure it is in peices as someones doner car by now because the are to scummy to save money and buy there own kit.

Cant stand theives, I reckon some contact counciling would sort alot of this type of shit out.
I've been o/s for extended times and had shite stolen, the insurance co's can be pricks to get money from.
But think of the good things that could happen from this, you get your payout and invest in a cruiser, you'll be thanking the scum that stole your datsun.

Bummer.
Shouldn't your insurance company be speaking to your mechanics insurance company?

Sorry to hear. When mine was stolen a couple of years ago the insurance company eventually paid out, but that was after treating me like the criminal, It took them 3 months of investigations and after the all clear was given they appointed an assesor to assess if my 1986 MK patrol was worth the $28000.00 (yes you read that right) that they insured it for. It was insured for aggreed value so they had to pay. Some advise for all you others out there who have spent shite loads on their 4by's. Get AGGREED VALUE insurance.

Word of advice. If any insurer is giving you the $hits and being a prick. Threaten the a-hole settling your claim that you are unhappy and want to know what their intenal dispute resolution process is. Failing that threaten them with a phone call to the Insurance Obudsman. This process costs insurers a lot of money.

If they're going to decline the claim by law they must provide info regarding accessing their IDR process. There are two internal tiers and if not settled in your favour they should provide deatils of accessing the Ombudsman. This is at no cost to the insured and any decision is legally binding on the insurer.
Someone else mentioned trying the mecahanics insurance. More than likely he would only have a Libility cover rather than a theft cover for customer's vehicle. If this is so then you would have to prove the mechanic legally liable and that will be difficult if he had security commensurate with the risk but if he didn't have an operable alarm you may have a chance.
Best of luck.
