Tallest tyre on a Zuk

How tall is the tallest tyre you can reasonably run on a full bodied sierra ??? Max suspension lift of about 5 inches .. Cutting guards is OK but no tube fronts etc ... massive flex not nessecary (flex of basic SPOA is acceptable) ..
Also waht is the largest tyre anyone knows of that has been "engineered" on a Suzuki (does not have to be running suzuki driveline) would 37's be out of the question ???

There's a LWB sierra around melbourne (friend of Brett's) that is running spring over and 35" centipedes - so i guess they would measure pretty close to 35's...
Liam's running q78's - so that's just under 36"...
Both are spring over, both have full front clips (i think).
Not sure about the engineering thing though.

I ask as I have a new job that I start next month .. should allow extra time and most importantly extra $$$$$$$ ...
So I am making my Zuki plans now ... plan the build first and only do it once ... hopefully to have her ready for winter .. even if I have to get a shop to do the work ... I am tired of having a half baked vehicle that's alot of fun but always broken...
And because I am selling the GU that will free up extra funds as well .. but I want a reliable capable 4x4 .. (hence getting a workshop to do the mods and not me
)

RANUKI has been trying to certify a Hilux axle swap in Victoria. Just engage an engineer now. Get to know them and find out what they are comfortable certifying.

Not sure about the engineering thing though.
Being done now, he didn't have a problem (NSW) with Q78's but they're not on zook diffs though (flares cover them, axles/bearings/ steering are up to it, brakes are upgraded, tyres are speed/load rated, so theres not much for them to complain about)
I'm sure I'll be giving out plenty of photocopies of the certificates on the side of the road to friendly constables though....

What tyres did you use to get it engineered then? Or - did you get the Q78's rated?
What about the lights on the roof - i thought they were a no no for NSW?

I was thinking of a more engineer friendly tyre like an MTR ... (perhas it will keep me out of the mud a little ...)

I know of a set of GQ diffs that are pretty reasonably priced .. My guess is that they would hold up and slow down a 35 or 37 pretty well .. as well as add the extra track width nessecary make it reasonably stable

you could run much bigger than 37s with GQ diffs
get it engineered on 37s but wheel with +40s

watch out you don't exceed the strength of the suzuki chassis though too - as per Nam's issues with the big and heavy volvos under a sierra.
running diffs as big as a GQ may actually be a step backwards though with tyresize though - as the diff is going to be a fair bit bigger than a suzuki / hilux centre too - so clearance will be reduced - as tyre size will still be limited by body modificiations.

Paul Pisani is running GQ diffs with I think 38s driven by a Holden V6 and auto thru a GQ t/case (I think please correct me if wrong) and this is an engineered car. it is still a full bodied (sort of) car

Hmm 40's on a full bodied Zuk ... not sure how well they would fit ... or with the max lowest diff ratio being a 4.8 how well the poor lil 1.6 would turn them ... would be kewl though .. but a pipe dream I think ..

The q78's are load rated ( not speed, my mistake) it's on the sidewall.
The engineer is fairly tough, getting it done through Mannells. There's a few small things to be done but it won't happen in the next 2 weeks.

The lights on the roof have to come off anyway, theres 5mm of clearance between my garage roof and the car without them.

Sorry to persist with this - but you ARE or ARE NOT engineering it with those tyres on it?
I was recently pulled over for having non-speed-rated tyres and would love to hear that you are getting it engineered with tyres that don't have this rating.

Depending on cost that sort of panel work\modification is not out of the question .. would like to stay with Suzuki powerplant
(If I were to go to the trouble of an entire driveline swap .. I may as well just get a vehicle with a bigger motor etc to begin with)

There is also jake palmbergs red soft top with unimog axles, 44s and the standard 1.3. Mind you this is in Canada/US and it isn't a street driven Zuk but hey you asked

how can an unspeed rated tyre get engineered. I have been told that Swampers are illegal to run on road no ifs or buts

Max speed will be imposed by the laws of physics. I dont expect it'll get over 100.

You never know ... I may be tempted to for the Tube frame front end to allow even bigger rubber ... but thats another story
The other reason I like the GQ stuff (despite clearance under the diffs) is I can run larger rolling diameter rubber as well as not worry as much about "given it some lovin"
when required. There is always the possability of shaving the housings (dont know if that is possible with Nissan diffs like it is for hilux diffs) ..

If I had the $$$$ to build that sorta monster .. I would not be too worried about it being street registered ...

Yeah i was just reading up about this sort of thing on the ol' vic roads site and it looks like the requirement for passenger vehicles is that the tyres must be rated to 140kms p/h...
