search Exploroz forum. one bloke did to his grenade and created all sorts of insane EGT's on highway crusing... nfi why, but he put back to std, and all was happy - so his conclusion was that was the cause.. that was the onlyu thing that changed..

heaps of info on patrol4x4.com
it pays to adjust the turbo as it can overboost due to the extra push the turbo gets due to the blocked EGR.

Heaps have done it (apparently), but I only did it for a while as a diagnostic... As I've said on here before, the ZD30 is tuned pretty tight, so messing with shit that Nissan has spent $$$$$$$$$$$$ on R&D isn't always the best... Yes, they do need to meet emission regs etc (do they check emissions at rego time in your state?), and they aim more at daily driver than tourer or even comp truck, but if you want to do it anyway...
From grill, looking at engine bay, it's on the LH side of the engine towards rear, about halfway up the block. There's a pipe coming down from the top of the engine to it, and another leading away from it around the back of the engine. It also has a solenoid (obviously) to activate it on the top of the valve and a small hose/fitting (1/4" ?). It's only a small component relatively, but a real pain in the arse to get to and remove. You'll need to remove it first time around to make a blank that fits the pipe mounting bolts.
If you've got a GU ZD30, go and buy the Gregory's Manual for it. You can't go wrong with it. Manual Number 519.
