Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I broke a wheel stud off the front of my 99 GU on the weekend and I would like to know how easy it is to fix.

I have a basic mechanical knowledge but I have never started to take apart the front hub area on my Patrol so I am not sure what I will encounter.

Can it be done easily?

If so how much would the parts roughly cost?

If not, how much roughly, would I expect to pay at a garage?

Any advice would be great so I can then decide the best way of fixing it.

I paid $7 each for the rear studs+nuts today, they are simple to replace, you pretty much bash out the old ones and bash the new ones in and check the wheels nuts every so often after you do it.

The back looks easy but these are on the front and it look like there is not enough room to remove them without taking the hub to bits?

I gather you just did the back? Do you know how easy or hard it is to do the front?

It's really easy, I changed my rotor and studs less then a month ago.
Remove x6 allen key bolts (5mm) then there is a lock washer with x2 screws (philips head) holding the lock nut on, unscrew and remove, It is a pain in the ass, I used to hooked scibe's, then remove lock nut and bearing, Note the weight of the hub should be supported by now. You don't have to take anything else off the axle, the whole hub and rotor assembly will come straight off after the outside bearing and lock nuts are removed. When taking off the hub assm. don't let the back bearing drop if you want to re-use it. Now I removed the disc, with a hammer as I was replacing but I would think it shouldn't make it to difficult to replace the wheel studs with rotor attached, From memory the studs stick through the hub assm. just enough to start a nut, wind the wheel nut up to pull the stud into the hub, then re-fit hub to stub axle and roberts your father's brother!

I went home and had another look today, it looks as though you will have to seperate the hub from the disc, did you have too?

Yeah I did.

I came apart just enough to get the stud in without pulling it all the way off.

There was just enough room.
