I want to know what sort of fuel efficiency others are getting out of the rover 4.6L short motor. This question may have been answered in another post but i searched and found nothing.

Short motor should be pretty efficient

Factory 4.6s get between 14-16l/100km according to the trip computer, mine is currently getting 24.5L/100 in the city and 18 on the highway, but thats down to a bad tune.

This is one of those "How long is a piece of string" questions.
What car
what transmission
what injection/carby
what wheel size
what diffs
what extra weight
what compression ratio
what driver

IMHO , the very best would be using a Thor motronics set up with 14.7:1 lambda at all times , then 14-16l per 100Km. Ie std 38A post 2000.
Its all steeply downhill from there But with a good aftermarket injection running Lambda on part throttle maybe 18-22 city, and 15-16 highway.
.
