Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey people,
recently purchased a 91 sr5 lux with the 22r in it and just have some questions about it.

1. It has shithouse fuel economy (300kms per tank), coming from a TD courier this seems very high?

2. Front springs are buggered. Looking at lifting it. Wanting to know the difference in lifts (spring, shackle, body) was thinking maybe a combination of all. But mostly would like to know the pros and cons of each. I don't really want it huge as i ride dirtbikes and need to be able to push it on the back still but i would like it to be better in the bush. Its currently got standard height (i think) springs with Old man emu shocks and 31' BF Muddies.

3. preparing for the day when the thumping power house that is the 22r engine shits its self i was wondering also what the argument between the lexus V8 or the holden V6. Which is the easier conversion? Strongest engine etc??

1 300 sounds like it's thirsty prob do all filters and change oil also do spark plugs, gap them correctly! and check resistance of spark plug leads

2If it's just got to do mild bush work and you still wan to load bikes on it just do 2in springs with new std sahckles and fixed pins and bushes also get greaseable ones keep the grease up and they'll last a long time

3 mave a loklk through the members section some people are opting for a 3RZ-FE 4cyl rego ok power good econamy (Depending on how you drive it to some extent) or even do a search there's heaps of info on here about all 3

1. I have done all filters, oils and plugs when i first got it, didn't give the leads a thought though, so i will check them. It also has a set of extractors on it.

2. The problem is i like doing the hard stuff aswell, living in lithgow there is plenty around the area. I think i will take your suggestion and go with that, as it would be a slow build up anyway if i find i can still load my bike i will just go bigger later lol (why must i have 2 expensive hobbies.....)

3. As with the engine the 22R thats in it has 285,000 on it so it should last a fair while yet but i would still like to be prepared. I like the idea of the cheaper rego for the 4cycl and also being under 25 will help with insurance. Is the 3RZ the 2.7efi out of say a 2000 model???

Yeah also maybe look at the cap and rotor button as dirty pickups here will cause more resitance which in turn will reduce the amount of spark down the line which means less burn and less econamy also does it ping or have you ever set the timing.
Twin lockers will get you in enough trouble i say drive it for a bit do sus lift then lock it rear and then front and maybe a set of these if you like to feed it http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/ just run 27 spline ones on std axles as toyota cv's are S T house and can break at even the thought of a front locker
And dude i'm only 20 also did have a dirtbike till my kicker ramp was stolen close to geting it back just gotta play it
