91' 2.4 petrol sr5 hilux

hey people,
recently purchased a 91 sr5 lux with the 22r in it and just have some questions about it.
1. It has shithouse fuel economy (300kms per tank), coming from a TD courier this seems very high?
2. Front springs are buggered. Looking at lifting it. Wanting to know the difference in lifts (spring, shackle, body) was thinking maybe a combination of all. But mostly would like to know the pros and cons of each. I don't really want it huge as i ride dirtbikes and need to be able to push it on the back still but i would like it to be better in the bush. Its currently got standard height (i think) springs with Old man emu shocks and 31' BF Muddies.
3. preparing for the day when the thumping power house that is the 22r engine shits its self i was wondering also what the argument between the lexus V8 or the holden V6. Which is the easier conversion? Strongest engine etc??
