3.0L Hilux - Adding Turbo

Thinking of whacking a turbo on my standard 3.0L diesel efi lux.
Just wanting to hear from anyone who has gone down that path and done the install themselves. Have you gone factory turbo (wrecker job) or the aftermarket kit? Are either a DYI possibility (i.e. standard mechanical tools) or are there special testing requirements etc which make it a specialist install?
Finally, does anyone have any leads on kits that I could buy? I would prefer something with all the bells and whistles, no need to modify existing extractors etc. Second best would be to buy a stock turbo extractors etc.
