Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I'm not sure why, but the average IQ around these days seems to be getting lower. Like why is it that some people no matter where you go seem hell bent on doing stupid things without worrying about the consequences??

After the weekend spent getting my car dirty, and with the water restrictions preventing me from washing it as soon as I got home, I drove it to work today as it was, and I was planning on washing it this afternoon on the way home.

Well some smartarse thought it would be funny to write "WASH ME" on the bonnet in the dust. I mean, for christ's sakes, it wasn't even in ENGLISH either!!...

So now I have this friggin god awful scrawl etched into the clear coat across the bonnet!! (^%*^^&#$^% *&^(*&^ !!!!!)

Tree scratches I can live with because they're purely random, and don't mean anything other than I had fun, but having this crap on my bonnet for all to see looks ridiculous to say the least.

One option is to kill the prick (I know who it was who did it). The second idea that came to mind was to run a key up the side of HIS car and see how he liked it, but his car is a Hyundai Accent piece of $hi#, and already has every panel either dinged or scratched because of his lack of driving ability. Another option (and probably more sensible option) is to make him pay to have it removed.

Has anyone found a product that works to remove surface scratches from clear coat paint finishes without swirling or leaving the paint dull? I have some of the Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner, but on another vehicle I tried it on it left the paint dull and patchy.

I can probably get hold of a buffer, but I don't really want to go in hard with a heavy cutting compound.

mate your best bet is to take it to your local panel or paint shop and get them to buff it out, they will do a god job and you will never know it was there, trust me i done it on my mates gu and you couldn't pick any scratches

Yes i have COBBA scratched up the side of my car. at the time i was told not to be stupid n it wouldnt scratch.

that said its prob the only bit of clear left on the gq, and im painting it later in the year

Take it to a panel shop and get them to have a look at it. 9 times out of 10 you can usually remove it with a cutting compound and then finished off with a finer compound and you will never know.

If there really deep they can be cut out with 2000 or even 1200 wet and still get them out without repainting it but that depends on the type of 4wd and wheather there is plenty of clear on it or not.

And for an even better twist, I confronted the prick today who did the damage..

1. He doesn't seem to believe that dust will do that. He demonstrated on one of the work cars which is almost a matt finish anyway...

2. He said he didn't really press that hard so how could he have been the one who scratched it?? (Mind you, it was written in Yugoslavian, and he's the only Yugoslavian in this workplace).

3. It's really my fault, cos I made the car dirty in the first place, and I made him do it because no more than two minutes before he did it, I specifically told him not to.

And they wonder why wars happen.

If he won't pay for the damage, buff it out with his head!

If it happened at work, talk to the boss/manager. This is misconduct in a workplace, and there should be consequences. If he's trying it on a work car, this could also be an intent to damage your companies equipment. If you really want to hit this prick hard, see a lawyer, though the cost is probably not worth it.

Cos I know where he's from, I saw him write it, and he's always going on about how much a better place it is over there.
