HZJ 75 Gearbox issues

Hope to pick your collective brains on this one, I have just had the gearbox rebuilt in my Troopy after 411000km, new bits put in are

Cluster gear
Modified Drive gear
Low speed idle gear
Full Gearbox Kit
Transfer Case Kit
3-4-5th gear synchro rings
New Clutch Kit
Total of over $1800 in parts

The issue with the box is when slowing for traffic lights / intersection, when the car speed gets to around 40 kmh and slowing in 5th, 4th and 3rd gears it makes a chattering / grumble noise that was not as noticeable before the box was reco'd.

The box has been removed and stripped with no obvious shagged bearings or chipped gears or shiny wear marks from old gears running on the new ones.

There is also a slight whine at highway speeds but I believe it may just be the old gears meshing with the new ones and I can live with that.

Also when the T/ Case is in neutral the box is silent going thru the gears. The grumble / chatter also gets worse as the box gets hotter. Any ideas on what may be causing this grumble / chatter??

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Troopy93

Both my own (100k old) and my dads (250k old) make a chattering/grumbling noise especially when hot - the old man claims his has made this noise forever (he brought it new in '88). I have no idea what it is though.

-Stu :)

Edit: upon speaking to two other mates with diesel 75s, they claim theirs do the same.

Thanks Stew,
I may have to live with it then, but strange how it was nowhere near as grumbly before the box was reco'd. Cheers mate Gaz
