Sierra temp gauges

Have not had it pressure tested or gauge tested but hear go's.

The little brass temp sensor terminal sh!t itself so I replaced it with another on from Suzuki and now the gauge only just goes above the bottom line. ??? It will go higher but only when seriously thrashing in in the sand. Not what it used to do.

It has new thermostat / coolant and hoses look ok. What should I look out for.

PS: it is a 85'drover with a late model G13B carby engine out of a coily.

What should they sit on normally. Is there a difference between senders in suzuki.

cheers

Nic

hey nic, from my understanding there are 2-3 different brass temp sensors. each one sending a different read out. if your gauge is reading very low I would suggest you either have the wrong one installed or there is a lose connection which is preventing an accurate reading.

being engine temp you might want to do a bit of ringing around to make sure you have the right sensor and that everything is wired up properly.

my temp gauge never gets above a quarter, but that's probably due to the fact I don't run a complete thermostat. so if you have a full thermostat and a new sensor it is reasonable to say that something is still not quite right.
