Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys,
Been trying to find out if anyone knows if it is possible to get the 06 GV transfer to allow 2wd, my options at the moment are only 4H, 4H-lock and 4L-lock.
They are electrically engaged but I think it is still a manual change just electric control.
Being constant 4wd I would also need free wheeling hubs in the front if this is possible.
Maybe later some LSD and or lockers to if they are available.

Any help would be much appreciated.

My guess is no. The transfer will have no means of engaging and disengaging front drive. Maybe swapping in a GV transfer might be possible, but then you would loose the possibility of constant 4WD.

To put front hubs on would require changing the front hubs to versions that have provision of freewheeling hubs. I understand than the basic hub design is shared with the Jimny, so it might be possible to fit jimny spindles.

However, you would likely need custom outer axles, new rims, deal with the rear. and then a whole heap of little things will raise their head like brakes and track width.

Alrighty then it sounds like it is gunna be major surgery swapping boxes and what not. I spose mums taxi will have to stay just that.
A set of decent rubber and LSD or lockers when or IF they are ever available.

In some markets there are 2wd only versions. In your t-case the front output is driven by a chain so I don't see 2wd being an option. The change from 4hi to 4low is mechanical by an electrically operated solenoid. This solenoid is left off the high range only versions but the low can be engaged by getting underneath and undoing a 10mm bolt and shifting the small lever. The centre diff is a lsd in the t-case. Suzuki fits traction control in some markets also but the OZ distributor has not seen fit to spec this as yet. There are no lockers or lsd's for the diffs that I know of at the moment.

I was looking at a selectable 2wd to try to increase the economy a bit, but I don't think the cost of the mods can be justified against the saving in fuel so I'll give it a miss I think.

I'm not sure if a traction control system would give the same sort of results as a good LSD or locker (please correct if wrong), and being IFS and IRS with it's lousy wheel travel a LSD or locker would come in very handy.

This was not bought as a hardcore offroader but as mums shopping trolley however I still expect to be able to get to my camping spots with ease. So far it has 2" lift and snorkel and as soon as money permits some better rubber cause H/T's suck.

My other 4wd is a modded Patrol and I use this as my play machine so the Suzi is just for town and to tow the camper to some camping spots with the other half and the bub so nothing too full on, but as said I don't want to have drama's with lifted wheels stopping forward motion too often.

It's hard enough just finding a decent front bar let alone a winch bar, besides it probably won't go places to need a winch often enough to justiy the cost. My modded Patrol doesn't even have a winch so I can't see the Suzi getting one.
When we do a trip all the recovery gear will be packed.
