a different winch question

A couple of weeks ago i cooked my Brawn 9500lb lomount winch motor. The armature is shagged.
Now some of you may think this is my opportunity to better my life and become a highmount owner. Unfortunately though the cash cow has an udder infection and won't be churning out too much cash in the near future.
Where can i source a lomount winch motor? I don't know where to get one of these animals from and i don't particularly want to have to buy a whole new winch.
If i was forced to go down this expenditure path, i was toying with the idea of getting a warn 6hp winch motor and slapping it onto my Brawn winch. The problem i face here is that my current motor's output shaft is rectangular whereas the warn's are splined/star type. Where would i be able to get the bush that attaches the warn motor to the drum and shaft?
This way when i finally do get the bucks to buy a warn himount i already have a 6hp motor to bung on it.
Thanks

Gidday Glen, Sorry to hear your winch still not going
Don't really know were to get that bush your talking about? I thought
the shaft would have been the same for warn motors. (ya learn something
new everyday)
You'll probably pay around $500 for a 6hp motor plus the adapter shaft.
I bought my Highmount second hand off ebay for $800 bucks and rebuilt
it with new bushes seals etc quite cheap and learned a lot about how they
work. Maybe an option if you can hold off and find one similar.
Good luck getting it all sorted mate.

Hey Turtle boy..
Give Chris a bell at KJ's. 5222 8665. He deals with brawn stuff should be able to get a motor i guess..
If not, any half decent engineer should be able to make up an adapter. Andrew and Brian at Geelong Diffs would knock one up for you.
Cheers. Dan

I see one of the ebay sellers sellgin motors as spares for his units. Might fit? Or be cheap enough to modify. It's the guy with all the 12000lb winches - on his personal website from memory.

i'm probably behind the times by a year or two, but is brawn not in existance anymore?

Doesn't matter anyway as most lomount parts are interchangable anyway.
I'm pretty sure Brawns are a Tmax winch with silicon, seals, o-rings and waterproof grease added prior to sale. They're pretty well sealed. After a few years of river crossings, bogholes, mucheavy use, use under water, and never being pulled apart it didn't have a drop of water in it. Grease is perfect too.

Yeah thanks Ruffy. Got a price off Chris. If i don't find a cheap himount in the next month i'll get one off him.

that's a better way of saying what i was trying to say. was finding it hard to picture having to machine an adapter for a winch only few years old being the only option.

You are on drugs, they are a copy of a warn not rebadged.
Good luck Bear, did you get hold of Smithy to see if you could make a motor out of parts.

Yeah, Smithy's always a big help. Maybe when i get my himount one day i'll look into putting the 4.6hp warn motor on the lowmount as a rear winch with a Wazza twin 6 or 7.8hp on the front himount
