triton enquiry

Hi, Hav'nt had any input re my Triton/L200 rear end enquiry.
I have done a bit of research at the local mitsi dealer and have the following info. It may be suitable for tech section.
Diff by engine type.
4G64-4D5Turbo..............4.875
4D5 non turbo................4.875
6G7...............................4.9
4M40.............................4.636

Near as I can tell, there is a track change around 2002 from 1435mm to 1480mm and a diff center/axle change 2003.
All Triton/L200 have high front pinions.

If anyone can add to this I would appreciate input.

It seems that in order to get a wider diff then I will have mismatched ratios front to rear. ie 4.9 to 4.875 or 4.636 to 4.625. The latter pair are closer.
Both these pairs equate to tread wear difference of 2 mm or less on 31,s.
Since I don't drive on hard surfaces then the difference should not matter.
Any comments?

Thanks, Al

Hi Dave,
I will check again but the factory book definitly puts the diesel with the taller diff. The only other reference I have seen on vehicle specs list was a 3Ltr petrol with a 4.9 final drive.
Challenger listed 4.636 for both petrol and diesel, man and auto.
Thanks for your comment, I will check it out.

Find out if the 4M40 is turbo or NA - that might make a difference.
