Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have a vibration coming from underneath, it starts about 70kms on and has shudder when i take off. I changed my center bearing and my uni's are fine... When i had another look underneath i have a bit of play on the output shaft flange on the rear of the transfer case.

Is it worth changing the bearing???? Or get another 2nd hand transfer case.

Could it be where vibration or shudder is coming from?

could be tailshaft angles if you're getting too much wrap in the rear suspension on takeoff, and becoming noticeable again at 70km/h? get someone to follow you and watch the rear axle twist. if you u-bolts are loose it will wrap heaps too much. could also be the transfer although that is more litkely to cause a whine than a shudder or vibration.

the coopers are also famous for being out of round, so try it with another set of tyres if you can.

i wouldn't have thought about the tailshaft angles as the springs in the back are fairly thick... But the noise is a kina whinig sound..

I had the same kinda vibration at takeoff and at low speeds. It ended up being the bearing in the front of the gearbox waz lose in the case. Had to get another front section of the gearbox.

If that flange is loose just drop front of the shaft out and get a good lengh breaker bar and swing on it good then hit the locking tab in and see how it goes. Mine used to shake at 100 then it kept lowering till it started at 80 then i found it was this. they take a fair bit to get to proper torque ended up using 3/4 t wrench on mine to get it to the right torque.

I would just tighten the flange nut, and see how it goes.

My ln106 had a loose rear flange , tightened the nut, its been fine for many kms now.
