whats the longesyt range cbs walky talkys ? i have some small 3,5 km brand ones 40channel has anyone tested behind cliff walls / hills etc?

any brand that is 5watt output, those cheap ones are usually 0.5/0.8 W output, fine for line of sight for up to 3-4km, through some trees or hills and you'll struggle to get further than 1k. concrete walls will almost completely block transmission in that direction

if you really need to get a cheapie, get one with a decent sized antenna.

i got a .5w uniden 40xr or something and a mate has a .5w uniden but half the size, not sure what model number it is but its one of the ones that you could almost use as a key ring.
now both these are .5w but mine works more than twice as far as his.

thanks guys theyre handy as due to no no. s to call or push buttons etc.with a footswitch set up and a extenstion speaker over yr head area it would be great intercom for those noisy corrugations or big action bumpy tracks.
