after replacing the head gasket and getting the head machined on my HJ45, i have a ruff running engine, white smoke.

i think it could be the injectors, as they were attached when the head got washed and machined
anyone else want to help out with a suggestion

has to be either injectors or fuel pump.... a common problem with the old 45s

thanks, the injector pump was rebuilt recently, and the smoking problem started as soon as i finished doing the head, so it looks injectorish to me

If you left the injectors on when rebuilding the head youve almost definately got something stuck in there.Give them a clean and rebleed thouroghly

Did you bleed the pump 1st? No experience with H motors but all the others had their own bleeding point on the pump. You would also have to get the air out from the fuel filter to pump. Then you bleed the lines, shortest ones 1st I think.
It only takes a small bubble of air to cause havoc. I presume you know of the hand pump on the injector pump thats used for bleeding?

i bled the pump got it running but it smoked, so i bled the lines tothe injectors, then it died, now i have no fuel to the lines. yes i have bled the pump and the filters again since the new problem of no fuel at the injector lines became apparent.

this is irritating. time for the matches and insurance money :D

found why it wasn't running after trying to bleed. a washer on the injector rail slipped out during install. running rough now. have to adjust valves, bleed injector lines agai

:edit: valves done, runs fine, better than it's ever run while i owned it. thanks guys
