TJM Pro-locker

Guys,

Now that these have been around for a while can anyone tell if they are any good.

I was looking at ARB Lockers again but don't know anyone that can tell me about their experiences with these.

Please let me know if you have one and how you find it.

Yep I got one in the front of my gq and am happy as a patrol in mud. The only trouble I had is I snapped off the brass fitting that goes into the center, but the locker itself is awsome. Just need to uprate cv's as my 37" mtrs now break cv's before slipping.

IMWO, it would come down to which you can get at best price out of the ARB or TJM...

Both the TJM lockers (previously Jack Mc narmara lockers) and ARB lockers have been around for years so what ever you can get for a good price get them.

BTW I'm running TJM lockers with 42s and they work fine.

I have fitted both and the TJM prolocker is better IMO as the difflock is actuated by a seporate air ram and the ARB airlocker is actuated internaly with the air tranfering through the bearing spigot which has 2 viton O-rings which are not designed for radial use. I only use prolockers now

Not saying that TJM are not any good but most of there products are made overseas, I know that they are based on the MacNamara diffs but I am a bit biased towords ARB, have used their products for 10 odd years in comps and general driving and been very happy.

prolockers are made locally, I have 6 airlockers n 1 prolocker n I still think the prolockers better. Just wait til you really need the airlocker n find the O-rings have shit themselves, a common problem, also prolockers dont blow oil back out the solinoids, arb's are good but tjm's are better

there are quite a few running them, Kym Boltens proberly the best known, there is also quite a few in the QWC and XWC, also Tough Tracks and Superior Alterrain Challenge I know of. Thats only people in brisbane I'm sure there are more around the country.

i have the arb ones and am totally over them i am cosidering welding the rear one up they play up far to much either
leaking air in to diff
soliniods not shutting properly
oil out of the soliniods
fitting being broken off
lines being cut or damaged
then theres the copper tube inside that is very prone to damage on install if it takes a hit
also i got excisive ware in the centre gears from a 1 year old locker and they wouldnt cover it put it down to excessive use and could not fault the oil or align ment and no contamination just handed it back after taking 8 weeks to anyailise it
man my list of issues with them goes on but im just about to use it to weld up the sun gears as i cant find a rear diff without an lsd
so if and when i buy my next one it will either be an auto locker for the rear and i will give the tjm one a go up front
but in saying all this most of my issues have been with the rear one

I run front & Rear in my GQ

Absolutly love them...
Used to run the Arb in my GQ Wagon but kept blowing O rings.

Only issue i had was snapping CV's But that is just hopw i drive
I have done 3 rounds of Tough Tracks, 2 rounds of the Superior Allterrain and numerous stupid club trips while trying to keep up with my partners buggie..

Plus i fitted the front myself ... Which was much easier than the ARB
